| Exploring Ghost Ranch at the end of the day, I come around a corner on a back road. The sun slants across the hillside just before setting, and the distant mesas are smoky blue. No time to set up my easel; I grab a panel and paint quickly. Warm red earth, soft desert green, purple shadow flow through my brush onto canvas before the light fades to blue. |
