I love New Mexico's dramatic skies. Sometimes so blue you can't quite believe your eyes. Often filled with billowing clouds deciding whether or not to share their moisture with the parched earth below. Sometimes I can see rains falling from the clouds that evaporate before ever hitting the ground. The first hint of a storm is often the wind, which started whipping these trees as the clouds slowly rose up from behind the mountains. As happens so often because I love painting oncoming storms, this painting session ended with my running for cover.
