| In Northern New Mexico, you can go from the hot, peach-and-gold sand valleys into Ponderosa pine-cooled mountains in less than an hour. One of my favorite mountain hikes is up an old wagon road to the crest of this hill. From here, I can see for miles over the Valle Grande National Preserve. |
