Summer storms play across the mesas, sweeping fields of golden grasses, clay, and sand with purple shadows. I climb up onto the mesa behind my house, towing my easel and paints, and am rewarded with golden light chasing shadows across the plains, billowing clouds hinting of rain, and settle into the rythm of laying paint onto my canvas before the storm comes this way and I run for cover.
